Cultural entitlement is an integral part of Portland, underpinned by the principle that every student has the right to access a rich, ambitious, and inclusive range of cultural experiences. We recognise that cultural engagement is fundamental to students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and moral development, and is essential in preparing them for life beyond school.
Our Cultural Entitlement pathway is designed to ensure that all students, irrespective of background, ability, or need, are provided with meaningful opportunities to engage with.

Through the delivery of our cultural entitlement, we aim to foster confident, resilient, and socially responsible individuals who are able to participate in cultural, civic, and community life. In doing so, our curriculum reflects a broad and balanced educational offer that values creativity alongside academic achievement, and personal development alongside knowledge acquisition.
