A Highly Skilled Interim Executive Board (IEB)
Portland School is currently supported by an Interim Executive Board (IEB), a positive and proactive model used across the Trust when a school is on a rapid improvement journey.
Our IEB is made up of experienced education and support services professionals who bring specialist expertise, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to helping the school thrive. Their role is to provide strong challenge, celebrate progress, and work closely with leaders to secure the very best outcomes for pupils.
Once the school reaches the Trust’s improvement milestones, the IEB will transition to a full Academy Council, continuing the strong foundations already in place.
Our Local Governance Purpose
Within Shaw Education Trust, local governance exists:
• To champion pupils and ensure their needs, experiences, and aspirations are at the heart of every decision.
• To support and challenge leaders, ensuring high standards of education, care, and provision.
• To represent our community, ensuring the voices of parents, staff, and local partners are heard.
• To uphold the Trust’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment, clarity, and accountability.
These responsibilities are set out clearly in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation, which guides how decisions are made at every level.
